Conjunctivitis

Conjunctivitis, commonly called pink eye, is an inflammation of the clear tissue that lies over the white part of the eye and inside the eyelid. It can be caused by bacteria, viruses or an allergic response.

Symptoms of conjunctivitis can include one or more of the following: redness of the eye, excessive tearing, a yellowish discharge from the eyes, an itchy, gritty or burning sensation and sometimes blurry vision with sensitivity to light.

If you notice any of the above symptoms, you should contact your eye doctor for further evaluation. If you wear contact lenses, you should immediately remove them. Conjunctivitis can be contagious so early diagnosis can help to protect people around you from getting pink eye as well.
